London’s mayor Sadiq Khan wants to roll out a new network of water fountains and bottle-refill stations across London to help reduce the use of single-use packaging.

The new proposals include new water fountains and bottle-refill stations across the capital in parks and public squares. The main objective is to reduce the amount of single-use plastic bottles and cups used (and thrown away) across the capital. The Guardian reported over a million plastic bottles are bought worldwide every minute - a large proportion of which end up in landfill. With annual consumption expected to surpass half a trillion bottles by 2021, something needs to change.
