An environmental campaign backed by celebrity Chef James Strawbridge plans to make Cornwall the first straw-free county in the UK. Coined 'The Final Straw Cornwall', the campaign will urge pubs, restaurants, hotels and cafes across the county to stop serving single-use plastic straws.

The campaign is the brainchild of Pat Smith from Bosinver Farm Cottages, and north coast surfer James Neale. It has already achieved a lot of engagement online and has received support from TV chef James Strawbridge from Posh Pasties, along with other major businesses across Cornwall.

James said, "The use of disposable plastic is having a devastating effect on our oceans. This campaign is appealing because it is such a simple and easy change to make, it's something we can all be a part of."

The campaign will officially launch in Truro on Thursday 9th November 2017.

It isn't necessary to put a straw in every drink. At Biopac, we recognise some customers will still request a straw and therefore have launched a range of compostable paper straws - An alternative to plastic which is much kinder to the environment. View our range here.
