A street lamp powered by dog poo has started lighting up a famous beauty spot - the Malvern Hills

Dog walkers on the Malvern Hills are being encouraged to drop dog poo into an anaerobic digester which converts it into methane to fuel the street lamp. Creator Brian Harper, wanted to find a use for dog poo after seeing many poo-filled bags left lying around on the hills, spoiling the natural beauty of the area.

Ten bags are sufficient to provide two hours of light.

The lamp was first trialled in November after more than two years of tests and Mr Harper is looking to install similar devices in other areas. A great way to turn unsightly mess into something useful.
