All Bar One have announced they are going to stop putting plastic straws in customer drinks in a bid to help reduce waste.

The chain, part of the Mitchells & Butlers group, has said 56 All Bar One outlets serve straws in one in four drinks and uses 4.7m a year. Like many bars, straws are automatically put into customer drinks, without the customer requesting.

A spokesperson from the chain said they 'know how incredibly harmful plastic straws are to animals and the environment, so we decided to do something about it.'

The company is urging other chains and pubs to drop plastic straws under a campaign #strawsuck.
