Environmental packaging specialist, Biopac, has recently extended their range of beautifully crafted tableware made from palm leaves. Perfectly suited to quick service restaurants, caterers and streetfood traders.

Biopac’s palm leaf products are produced in Southern India, specially crafted from natural waste materials.

Mark Brigden, Technical Director at Biopac explains the process, “Our Palm Leaf products have a great story behind them and we’re proud to stock them alongside our other compostable items. The production is based in rural areas and provides valuable employment in remote villages in Southern India. The palm trees produce large leaves which are shed every few weeks, falling to the ground naturally. These leaves are then collected, harvested and simply processed by washing them in spring water and then steam pressing them into shape.”

There are no chemicals used in the process and the products are fully compostable. The range includes bowls, plates and trays of various shapes and sizes. Suitable for most foods, both hot and cold, they are wax coated so can be wiped clean and reused.

Mark added, “We have recently increased the range of products due to popular demand and now stock a wider variety of shapes and sizes which are already proving popular with a number of our clients.”
